3rd International AI Championship Planning Event
Academic leaders from LUMS, FAST NUCES, and Simmons University collaborated with AIEF to strategize the 3rd International AI Championship.

Dr. Summaira Sarfraz (FAST NUCES), Dr. Ammina Kothari (Simmons University), and Dr. Fauzia Khan (Soliton Technologies) shared transformative insights, calling it a “pivotal step for global AI innovation.”

The 2nd AI International Championship 2024, hosted by AIEF and Soliton Technologies at FAST National University, featured 33 projects from Pakistan, China, and the USA, reinforcing Pakistan’s role as an AI hub.

1st Prize: ARIA (COMSATS Islamabad) – Mental health AI assistant.
2nd Prize: Archentra (COMSATS Islamabad) – AI-driven solutions.
3rd Prize: NLPT (FAST NUCES) – Clinical NLP framework.

Guiding the Next Generation of AI Experts

Dr. Fauzia Khan

(CEO AIEF) Dr. Fauzia Khan has expertise in algorithm design, knowledge acquisition, data mining, and leveraging these capabilities to drive improved outcomes. Previously, she served as an attending physician and program director of Informatics at UMass Memorial Health Center and Director of Clinical Pathology Residency Program at UMass Medical School. She currently holds the position of CEO at AIEF.

Dr. Usama Bajwa

(Director AIEF) Dr. Usama Ijaz Bajwa, an AI and machine learning expert, leads Soliton Technologies' AI-driven healthcare solutions as Group Head of Product and Engineering Manager. He has a strong academic background, previously serving as a tenured professor and researcher, with numerous contributions to AI, international conferences, and healthcare technology.

Dr. Basit Shafiq

(Member) Basit Shafiq is an accomplished researcher and Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). With degrees from GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology and Purdue University, his research focuses on information systems security, access-control management, web services, ontologies, and distributed multimedia systems.

Dr. Safee Ullah Chaudhary

(Director AIEF) Dr. Safee Ullah Chaudhary is a highly accomplished researcher and expert in the field of computational biology and biomedical informatics. With a B.S. in computer systems engineering, an M.S., and a Ph.D., he has made significant contributions to cancer systems biology and computational modeling. He established the Biomedical Informatics & Engineering Research Laboratory (BIRL) at LUMS.
